Opinel Junior N°07 Kinder Outdoormesser natur

Passed down from generation to generation.
My First Opinel is the knife for little adventurers, tinkerers, and foodies!
It's perfect for learning how to prepare bread after a hike, carve sticks, or build a tree house. And at the same time a real knife that cuts exceptionally well.
The knife specially developed for children features an 8 cm blade with a rounded tip and a white-lacquered handle that protects it from dirt.
My First Opinel also has a safety ring to lock the blade in open or closed position.

Blade with round tip
The blade tip is rounded to provide maximum safety when using.
It is also the ideal blade for spreads.

Martensitic stainless steel
Hardness 55-57 HRC.
Origin from Europe.
Opinel knife blades are made of particularly high-quality stainless steel that offers both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance.
The blade has excellent sharpness and high wear resistance (wear resistance), allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials like ceramics before needing to be sharpened.
Stainless steel has the advantage that, unlike carbon steel, it requires no special maintenance under normal use conditions.
However, it can reach its limits when it comes into prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent, etc.).

Knife handle
Beech is the most commonly used wood for making Opinel knife handles.
The beechwood comes from France, is hard, resistant, and easy to work with.
It has a homogeneous appearance and the light color varies from yellowish to rosy.
The wood is recognized by the many small dark stripes.
The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.

Safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring was invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel.
It is present on all folding knives from model N°06 onwards.
The Virobloc is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part.
In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safe use), it's now also possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safe transport).
