Swiss made
Since 1935, Stöckli has stood for Swiss ski making. The same rigour shapes the factory in Malters and the road to the big race courses.
In Malters, every Stöckli ski is built in more than 140 work steps. Craftsmanship and modern manufacturing mesh precisely.
Stöckli's journey in the Swiss-Ski Pool began in 1994. In 1996, Urs Kälin took the first World Cup win. Racing experience still flows into development today.
The Stöckli Montero AX is the light, playful all-rounder of the Montero series: a ski that can be guided with little effort and is as much at home on changeable snow, in moguls and on the softer edge of the piste as on the groomed piste.
In a dark camouflage design with yellow accents and the "ax MONTERO" print, the Montero AX relies on a particularly light core of European woods combined with two Titanal layers. The S-shaped cut-outs in the Titanal at the tip and tail (FTC - Flex Torsion Control) let the ski ends flex more easily, while the middle under the binding stays grippy and stable. A more generous rocker portion than on the Montero AR gives the ski extra float as soon as the snow becomes softer or rougher.
| Waist width | 80 mm |
|---|---|
| Sidecut | 124 - 80 - 112 mm |
| Lengths | 163 / 168 / 173 / 178 / 183 cm |
| Radius | approx. 13.5-17.5 m, depending on length (173 cm: 15.5 m) |
| Rocker | generous tip rocker + tail rocker, camber under the binding (RCR profile) |
| Core | light sandwich core of poplar, beech and paulownia wood (Light Core), two Titanal layers |
| Edge | SME Light, lightweight metal edge |
| Base | Racing Graphite |
| Surface | Polyamide topsheet, dark camouflage design with yellow accents |
| Torsion control | FTC - Flex Torsion Control |
| RCR | Rocker-Camber-Rocker: the ski's basic profile, with rocker at the tip and tail and camber under the binding for edge pressure from the middle. |
|---|---|
| AMR | All Mountain Rocker: more generous on the Montero AX than on the AR, for extra float in softer or rough snow and easier turn-in. |
| Tail Rocker (TR) | An extended, flatter rocker in the ski tail makes it easier to finish turns and takes pressure off the edge towards the end of the turn. |
| Light Core (LC) | Particularly light sandwich core made from selected European woods (poplar, beech, paulownia), which noticeably reduces swing weight without sacrificing stability. |
| FTC | Flex Torsion Control: S-shaped cut-outs in the Titanal at the tip and tail that allow a softer flex there. The middle of the ski under the binding stays torsionally stiff, which makes turn initiation easier while ensuring edge grip in the centre. |
| SME Light | Slim, weight-optimised metal edge that provides edge grip while keeping the overall weight of the ski low. |
The Montero AX is the lightest and most approachable ski in the Montero range: the particularly light wood core with paulownia content noticeably lowers swing weight, while two Titanal layers with FTC cut-outs at the ends provide easy turn initiation with a stable middle. With a waist width of 80 mm and the most generous rocker portion in the Montero line-up, it feels at home not only on hard piste but also offers extra reserves in skied-out or rough snow, in moguls and at the edge of the piste. Compared with the stiffer Montero AR and the even sportier AR Pro, it is the most playful and easiest-to-move all-rounder of the series.
The Montero AX is suitable for versatile skiers looking for a light, uncomplicated companion for very different conditions, from hard spring pistes to softer, skied-out snow away from the main run. Thanks to its approachable handling, it is a good choice for anyone who wants to enjoy longer days without fatigue but also wants to venture into faster, sportier turns as soon as the terrain allows.
Binding & length: We offer the Montero AX with the matching Strive 13 binding (colour-matched). If you have any questions about the right length or binding choice for your skiing style, just get in touch. We are happy to advise you.
