Which pole length do I need?

Alpine, touring, classic and skating need different pole lengths. For adjustable poles, check the usable length range.

Choose for the child’s current height and sport. Do not add length just to allow room to grow.

Check when trying out

  • The grip should feel secure in your hand while wearing your gloves.
  • For adjustable poles, your working length must stay within the approved range. Follow the manufacturer’s markings and locking instructions.
  • Use the separate guidance for classic and skating. Do not apply the alpine elbow check to Nordic poles.

Measure your height and check pole length

Alpine fit check: stand upright, hold the pole vertically and check your relaxed elbow angle.
  1. Measure your height without shoes from the floor to the top of your head.
  2. Compare it with the manufacturer’s guidance for your sport. Packed length is the collapsed length for transport.
  3. For alpine poles: place the pole vertically and check that your upper and lower arm form roughly a right angle. Use separate sport-specific guidance for Nordic poles.
