Hanwag Banks SF Extra Lady GTX asphalt mint

The Hanwag Banks SF Extra Lady GTX in Asphalt/Mint is a mid-cut women's walking boot with additional forefoot room. Its StraightFit Extra last provides more width at the front and space for a straighter position of the big toe. This makes it worth trying if a conventional walking-boot last feels restrictive in that area.

The upper combines leather and textile sections. Inside is a GORE-TEX lining, with a Vibram Trekking SF outsole underneath. A cushioning PU layer complements the sole construction for longer walks. The Banks is designed for hiking and lighter trekking outings. Lacing can be adjusted over the foot and around the shaft. Hanwag lists approximately 1,050 grams per pair in UK size 5; other sizes can differ. The boot can be resoled.

Try both boots with suitable walking socks and assess the fit on an incline and a descent. Your forefoot should have room to move while your heel remains secure. After use, dry the boots slowly at room temperature. Remove dirt with a soft brush and treat the leather sections with a suitable product according to the manufacturer's instructions. Check the laces, tread and sole condition before longer trips. A personal fitting is especially useful for wider feet.
