Hanwag Banks GTX navy asphalt

The Hanwag Banks GTX in Navy/Asphalt is a mid-cut men's hiking boot for day walks and lighter trekking trips. Its intended terrain ranges from lower mountain trails to straightforward hut-to-hut routes with a modest pack. Leather and textile areas form the upper, while a GORE-TEX lining adds waterproof, breathable weather protection.

A Vibram Endurance Pro outsole provides a defined tread beneath the foot. The PU foam wedge in the midsole supports cushioning and the rolling movement of each step. Metal lace hooks let you adapt the lacing to your foot and preferred cuff support. The Banks GTX is resoleable. Hanwag specifies a reference weight of 1,250 g per pair in UK 8; other sizes can weigh differently.

Try the boots with your hiking socks and check heel retention, toe room and pressure points. Allow enough space ahead of your toes when facing downhill. Lacing should hold your foot securely without digging in. Break new boots in on shorter walks before a longer trip. After use, gently remove dirt and dry the boots at room temperature. Treat the leather sections with suitable care products following the manufacturer's instructions, and regularly inspect the laces, hooks and outsole tread.
