Salomon RC8 Prolink Classic

The Salomon RC8 Prolink Classic is a cross-country ski boot for classic technique. This version, manufacturer reference L40556100, combines a flexible sole construction with adjustable heel retention. It suits skiers looking for a performance-oriented fit and straightforward lacing adjustment on the tracks.

Quicklace lacing sits beneath a protective zippered cover. An adjustable heel strap and thermoformed heel counter support the fit around the rear of the foot. Custom Fit complements the interior construction, while Thinsulate provides insulation. Salomon identifies the last as 102 Performance Fit. The Prolink sole is intended for compatible Prolink, NNN and Turnamic bindings. NIS and IFP describe binding mounting systems and do not replace a check of the actual boot and binding combination.

Try the boots with your cross-country ski socks. The heel should be held while the forefoot remains free to flex through a classic stride. Before setting off, check that the boot and binding match and close fully. After skiing, remove snow and dirt from the sole and closure. Open the boots to dry and keep them away from direct radiator heat. Regularly inspect laces, heel strap, zip and sole profile for damage. Warmth requirements also depend on the weather, activity level and choice of socks.
