Hard glide wax for very cold ski days

Swix Bio-G4 Performance Wax in the 180 g pack is a hot wax for cold conditions. Swix specifies an air-temperature range of −20 to −10°C, making G4 the Bio-series option for particularly low temperatures. It is intended for the glide surfaces of alpine skis and is applied with a waxing iron.

According to Swix, the fluorine-free formula uses fully biodegradable raw materials. Spread the hard wax over a prepared base, allow it to cool, then scrape and brush the surface. These finishing steps matter: leaving a thick layer of excess wax on the ski is not a substitute for completing the waxing process.

Choose your wax for the conditions at the ski area. The stated outdoor temperature is not an iron-temperature setting. Follow the application guidance on the packaging, keep the iron moving and work in a well-ventilated space. Remove excess wax from the edges and work surface, and collect scrapings for appropriate disposal. Choose a suitable alternative wax when conditions are warmer.
