Holmenkol Base Edge File Guide 0.5°/1.5° Plastic

The HOLMENKOL Base Edge File Guide is a file guide for setting the base-side bevel of ski and snowboard edges. It is continuously adjustable between 0.5° and 1.5°.

Construction and application

The guide is made from glass-fibre-reinforced plastic. It is designed for ski files 20 to 25 mm wide and up to 6 mm thick. File dimensions are therefore as important to selection as the desired angle.

At the workbench

Compare the file with these dimensions and set the intended base-edge angle according to the instructions. Keep the support clean so that the guide can sit flat. Use controlled passes and inspect progress regularly. Base-edge work and side-edge sharpening are separate operations requiring the appropriate guide.

Use a stable working area and keep contact surfaces free from wax residue, filing dust and metal particles. Check the attachment of both the tool and the workpiece before beginning. This helps maintain the chosen setup during preparation.

Clean the tool after use and store it in a dry place. Before the next session, inspect moving parts, supports and attachments for visible damage or accumulated dirt. The tool instructions and the requirements of the ski or snowboard manufacturer remain the basis for the particular application.
