Description

The Mammut Alugator Pro Light Hoe is an avalanche shovel with an additional hoe function. Its hardened, anodised aluminium blade is combined with an oval telescopic shaft and an ergonomic D-grip. Repositioning the shaft allows the blade to be used as a 90-degree hoe. Manufacturer reference 2620-00060 identifies this Black version.

Version and details

  • Hardened, anodised aluminium blade.
  • Oval telescopic shaft and D-grip.
  • Conversion to a 90-degree hoe as directed.
  • Stabilising ribs and a straight blade back.

Selection and use

Before touring, check that all parts assemble and lock according to Mammut’s instructions. Practise switching between storage, shovel and hoe positions in a controlled setting. Pack the shovel where it remains easy to reach. Avalanche equipment must suit the intended use and requires the relevant training and regular practice.

Care and inspection

Remove snow and dirt after use and let the blade and shaft dry. Inspect the locking mechanism, grip and blade edges for damage. Recheck operation after heavier loading and follow Mammut’s guidance on care and spare parts. Checking equipment ahead of time makes preparation for the next tour easier.
