With Continental's Black Chili Compound, a tread rubber that's always based on the latest insights from polymer and raw material research, they've delivered a lasting answer to the cycling scene.
Depending on a tire's intended use, they fine-tune the recipe specifically—whether for road bikes or mountain bikes, time trials, or downhill.

For Black Chili, Continental refines special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create particularly high-performance tread compounds.
They then add carbon particles to these compounds, optimized in shape and surface properties.

LAZER GRIP
Continental is using Lazer Grip for the first time in one of their bike tires.
We turn up the heat on grip and equip your tire with a specially glazed shoulder area.
Plus the dark sections look particularly premium thanks to their velvety surface.

VECTRAN
Vectran™ is spun from the liquid crystal polymer Vectra.
This creates a thermoplastic, multi-fiber yarn.
For comparison: this semicrystalline fabric is more cut-resistant than aramid and has five times the tensile strength of steel.
A Vectran™ breaker is lighter, more flexible, and protects more effectively against cuts than comparable nylon breakers.
Rolling resistance is not negatively affected.
