Pieps Shovel C 660

The PIEPS Shovel C660 is an avalanche shovel with an oval telescopic shaft and C-shaped grip. It is intended for companion rescue in snow and can also be configured for clearing or hoeing. This lets you adapt the working position to the shovelling task.

The Quick Lock system helps connect the blade and shaft. Non-slip foot ridges and pronounced central ribs are part of the blade construction. Sharpened edges help the blade enter snow, while a slip stop complements the grip area. An integrated bottle opener is another detail.

PIEPS lists a total weight of 660 g, comprising a 310 g blade and a 350 g shaft. The blade measures 28.5 × 21.5 × 6 cm. The manufacturer's 68 cm measurement refers to the shaft, not the overall length of the assembled shovel. Consider the blade dimensions and access to it when packing your backpack.

Practise assembly and changing configurations before a tour, including while wearing gloves. Check the locking mechanism and the condition of the parts. An avalanche shovel complements a transceiver and probe; equipment handling and companion rescue require regular practice. After use, remove snow and moisture and let every part dry before storage.
