La Sportiva Gripit Kids' Chalk

The La Sportiva Gripit in Chalk is a climbing shoe for children taking their first steps on climbing walls and rock. Model ZFCS045 combines a light-coloured upper with turquoise and orange sections. Its focus is an adjustable fit and a soft construction that avoids unnecessarily squeezing a young climber’s foot.

The upper combines microfibre with calf suede produced using metal-free tanning, according to the manufacturer. This version has no additional lining or midsole. The Zero-Press construction is designed for comfort. A FriXion White No Marking rubber sole and rounded No-Edge design help the wearer feel the contact with the climbing surface.

The Fast Lacing System lets you adjust the fit through the lacing and hook-and-loop closure. Check both shoes together with your child. The toes should not be painfully compressed, and the heel should stay in place when standing on a foothold. Recheck the fit regularly as feet grow; adjustable lacing cannot compensate for a shoe that has become too short.

Take the shoes out of the backpack after climbing and allow them to air-dry. Gently wipe away dust and dirt with a damp cloth. La Sportiva advises avoiding direct sunlight, excessive heat and storage inside a hot car. Wear other footwear for longer approaches to help preserve the climbing soles.
