Edelrid HMS Bulletproof Screw slate

The Edelrid HMS Bulletproof Screw in Slate is an HMS carabiner with a manual screwgate. It combines an aluminium body with a steel insert at the crown, where the rope contacts the carabiner. The insert is intended to reduce wear at that contact surface and limit the development of sharp wear edges.

The aluminium body's H-profile balances material use and handling. A Keylock closure makes clipping and unclipping easier without a pronounced hooked nose catching on slings or other equipment. The screw sleeve must be closed by hand; a red marking assists visual checking of the closure state. The HMS shape provides room for suitable belaying applications and the intended rope path.

Before use, check compatibility with your belay device and follow both its instructions and the carabiner's user manual. Inspect the locked gate, free gate movement and correct loading direction. Position the carabiner so that rock or equipment cannot press against its closure. After use, examine the body, steel insert and screw threads for damage or wear. Clean and store it as directed by the manufacturer. Selecting and operating climbing equipment requires appropriate knowledge and practical training.
