Extrem Factory 102: a ski for the whole mountain

The Factory 102 is built as a "one-ski quiver" for freeride performance. It is meant to work on most days of the season and delivers top performance across all terrain, even when conditions keep changing. It feels at home in deep snow, chopped-up snow and wind-packed surfaces. It is both nimble and powerful and offers solid edge grip.

With a waist width of 102 mm, it brings good flotation and still stays manageable. Depending on length, the radius is 20 to 22 metres and the weight 1,910 to 2,090 grams per ski.

Handmade in Åre, Sweden

Extrem has been building its skis by hand in Åre since 1981. Production runs on 100 % renewable energy from local hydropower, and the CO₂ footprint is 28.8 kg per pair (including material, manufacturing, transport and disposal). The ABS plastic is made of 70 % recycled material, the topsheet of 50 % and the steel edges of 20 %.

Construction

  • Core: Vertically laminated poplar core of medium density, resilient and lively
  • Reinforcement: Titanal insert (0.4 mm, 65 x 1,000 mm) underfoot for edge grip and pop, plus prepreg fibreglass with epoxy
  • Cushioning: 1.5 mm racing rubber in tip and tail plus a 0.2 mm rubber film between steel edge and core
  • Binding plate: CNC-milled beech plate (55 x 650 mm)
  • Edges: Extra-wide ABS sidewall (8.5 mm) with bevelled profile for high impact resistance and continuous steel edge (2.3 mm high, 2.2 mm wide)
  • Base: Isospeed 7515 race base (extremely dense polyethylene with graphite) with arrow-shaped structure grind from Extrem
  • Topsheet: 0.55 mm Isocap ICP 8210, sublimated, with textured surface
  • Tail: Tail protection for longevity, also suitable for attaching climbing skins

Who is it for?

For freeriders and sporty all-rounders who are looking for a single ski for almost every day and who value versatility, power and edge grip both off-piste and on the piste. Which ski length suits me?

Check before choosing

  • Compare only lengths supported by the reviewed guidance for this model.
  • Consider your ability and intended use. For touring, also consider whether ascent or descent matters more to you.
  • Check ski, binding and boot compatibility separately.

Frequently asked questions

Advice on choosing skis for your intended terrain.

  • How do I check what is included and choose bindings?

Check the product description to find out whether bindings are included and which model comes with the offer. Clarify any uncertainties with us before choosing additional bindings.

  • How do I choose length and width?

Match length and waist width to your height, skiing ability and terrain. Float in soft snow, piste performance and manoeuvrability vary by model. We can advise on suitable options for park, freeride or mixed use.

  • Can I use any binding?

No. The ski construction, intended mounting area, binding and boot must work together. If the binding uses a brake, its width must suit the ski. Off-piste use alone does not make a touring binding suitable.
