Optimus Crux

The Optimus Crux is a compact gas stove for trips where packed size and weight matter. This version has a folding burner head and a manufacturer-stated weight of 83 grams. It packs into the supplied neoprene pouch and can use the recess beneath a suitable gas canister for compact storage.

The burner provides 3,000 watts of output with an adjustable flame. Its broad burner head spreads heat beneath the cookware. Steel and aluminium form the construction. Manufacturer dimensions are 76 × 57 × 34 millimetres when open and 84 × 57 × 34 millimetres when folded, helping you assess how it will fit inside your cooking kit. The gas canister is not included.

Use the Crux outdoors only and with the Optimus threaded EN 417 canisters approved in its instructions. Choose a stable, level position and check the connection as directed before lighting it. Boiling time and fuel consumption depend on factors including wind, temperature and water quantity, so plan your fuel supply for the trip. Allow the stove to cool completely before separating it from the canister, folding it or packing it away. Keep the burner and pot supports clean, check their condition before the next outing and follow the operating instructions throughout.
