Swiss made
Since 1935, Stöckli has stood for Swiss ski making. The same rigour shapes the factory in Malters and the road to the big race courses.
In Malters, every Stöckli ski is built in more than 140 work steps. Craftsmanship and modern manufacturing mesh precisely.
Stöckli's journey in the Swiss-Ski Pool began in 1994. In 1996, Urs Kälin took the first World Cup win. Racing experience still flows into development today.
The Stöckli Stormrider 108 is the widest and most rockered ski of the Stormrider freeride series, developed for maximum float in deep snow without losing the smooth running and edge precision typical of Stöckli.
With a waist width of 108 mm and a clearly raised, waisted tip, the Stormrider 108 is designed as a thoroughbred powder and freeride ski. It was developed in close collaboration with freeride world champion Maxime Chabloz. The aim: a ski that stays effortlessly on the surface in soft, untracked snow, yet does not start to wallow on hard ground or when cutting in. "STORMRIDER 108 TITANAL TECH" is printed large on the topsheet, a reference to the double-layer Titanal construction that gives the ski stability and power at high speed.
| Waist width | 108 mm |
|---|---|
| Sidecut | 137 - 108 - 129 mm (at 180 cm) |
| Lengths | 174 / 180 / 186 / 192 cm |
| Radius | approx. 16-17 m, depending on length |
| Rocker | Big Powder Rocker in the tip, Freeride Tail at the ski end: the most rockered Stöckli ski in the Stormrider series |
| Core | Sandwich core of poplar, beech and paulownia wood |
| Titanal | Double-layer Titanal construction (Titanal Tech) across the entire ski surface |
| Edge | SME Light, lightweight metal edge |
| Base | Racing Graphite |
| Surface | Titanal Technology PRO: scratch-resistant, textured Titanal top layer |
| Sidewall | POLYWALL: elastic, damping sidewall |
| Titanal Tech | Two continuous Titanal layers (aluminium alloy) enclose the wood core over the entire length of the ski. This double-layer metal construction gives the Stormrider 108 the torsional rigidity and smooth running that a wide freeride ski needs at high speed and in changing snow. |
|---|---|
| Big Powder Rocker (BPR) | An early-starting rise in the tip area, approx. 20 mm high and 60 mm long. It provides clear float in deep snow and a light, playful feel off the piste. |
| Freeride Tail (FTA) | The ski end combines a high-quality polymer component with a new rocker angle, which makes the tail lighter and softer and makes it easier to release and slash turns. |
| Titanal Technology PRO | A protective layer with a slightly raised texture directly on the Titanal that makes the top layer scratch-resistant. The graphic is printed directly onto the Titanal instead of an additional topsheet, which saves weight. |
| SME Light | Slim, weight-optimised metal edge: thanks to a modified punching process, it is set less deeply into the ski, which saves weight without limiting durability or re-sharpenability. |
| POLYWALL | Sidewall made from a softer, more elastic material than classic phenolic resin. It dampens vibrations and at the same time increases impact resistance against stones and chunks of ice. |
The Stormrider 108 relies on a sandwich core of poplar, beech and paulownia wood, enclosed in two continuous Titanal layers. This combination of light woods and metal gives a feel that stays buoyant and playful in deep snow, yet retains the smooth running and precision typical of Stöckli on hard piste and at high speed. The strongly waisted, raised tip (Big Powder Rocker) together with the flat, slightly splayed tail makes it clearly more playful and more willing to drift than the narrower Stormrider models, without giving up the series' edge grip strengths when carving.
The Stormrider 108 is aimed at advanced to excellent freeriders looking for a wide, reliable powder ski for off-piste descents, tours in open terrain and powder days. Thanks to the balanced rocker-camber profile and the stable Titanal construction, it feels secure both at high speed in open terrain and on occasional trips back onto the piste. For beginners or pure piste skiers, the 108 mm width and the freeride design are rather unsuitable.
