Project 83

Extrem Project 83: power and precision from the first to the last run

The Project 83 is a powerful piste ski that doesn't get flustered even in changing, demanding conditions. It was developed in northern Sweden, where snow and weather can change quickly. The result is a ski that you can push hard from the first to the last lift.

With a waist width of 83 mm and a radius of 13 to 16 metres (depending on length), it carves a clean line on hard pistes, is nimble in short to medium turns and stays easy to control on both fresh and chopped-up snow. At 1,550 to 1,900 grams per ski, it is a solid companion that brings calm and stability.

Handmade in Åre, Sweden

Extrem has been building its skis by hand in Åre since 1981. Production runs on 100 % renewable hydropower, and recycled materials are also used: the ABS plastic is made of 70 % recycled material, the topsheet of 50 % and the steel edges of 20 %.

Construction

  • Core: Poplar and beech for a damped yet lively ride feel
  • Reinforcement: Two continuous titanal layers (0.4 mm each) plus prepreg fibreglass for stability and power transmission
  • Cushioning: 1.5 mm racing rubber in tip and tail, plus a 0.2 mm rubber film between steel edge and core that absorbs vibrations
  • Edges: Extra-wide ABS sidewall (8.5 mm) with bevelled profile and continuous steel edge (2.3 mm high, 2.2 mm wide) for maximum grip on hard ground
  • Base: Isospeed 7515 race base (high-density polyethylene with graphite) with arrow-shaped structure grind for good glide even on cold snow
  • Topsheet: 0.55 mm Isocap ICP 8210 with textured surface, tail protection against delamination

Who is it for?

For advanced to very good skiers who ski sportily on the piste, value edge grip and stability and at the same time want a ski that goes along with short turns.

Size help

Which ski length suits me?

The right length depends on the model, intended use, body measurements and ability. For Nordic skis, body weight and suitable flex are especially important.

A reviewed size recommendation is not yet available for this model. Use the measuring guide to prepare, then ask our team for help choosing.

Check before choosing

  • Compare only lengths supported by the reviewed guidance for this model.
  • Consider your ability and intended use. For touring, also consider whether ascent or descent matters more to you.
  • Check ski, binding and boot compatibility separately.

Measure your height and weight

Stand upright against a wall without shoes and measure from the floor to the top of your head.
  1. Stand against a wall without shoes, looking straight ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Advice on choosing skis for your intended terrain.

  • How do I check what is included and choose bindings?

Check the product description to find out whether bindings are included and which model comes with the offer. Clarify any uncertainties with us before choosing additional bindings.

  • How do I choose length and width?

Match length and waist width to your height, skiing ability and terrain. Float in soft snow, piste performance and manoeuvrability vary by model. We can advise on suitable options for park, freeride or mixed use.

  • Can I use any binding?

No. The ski construction, intended mounting area, binding and boot must work together. If the binding uses a brake, its width must suit the ski. Off-piste use alone does not make a touring binding suitable.
