Ortovox Bivy Ultralight Biwaksack

The Ortovox Bivy Ultralight is a very compact bivy bag providing supplementary weather protection on mountain and ski tours. The manufacturer describes it as suitable for one to two people. Its stated 150 g weight and approximately 5 × 5 × 9 cm packed size make it practical to carry as part of an emergency kit. A storage bag is included in its equipment.

The windproof construction and coated outer surface provide protection against wind and moisture. A reflective coating on the inside returns part of the radiant heat emitted by the body. The Bivy Ultralight is a lightweight protective shell without a thick insulating fill. Its role therefore differs from that of a filled sleeping bag or an insulating sleeping mat.

Pack the bivy bag where you can reach it during unexpected weather changes or an unplanned stop. Familiarise yourself with unpacking and handling it before your tour, and follow the supplied manufacturer instructions. Inspect the thin material for damage, especially after contact with sharp rock or equipment. Allow moisture to dry before longer-term storage. Choose your other clothing, ground insulation and emergency equipment to match the route and conditions. This small protective shell forms one part of that wider kit and should be planned accordingly.

In-stock items usually ship from our warehouse within 1 to 3 working days. If the item is in stock in one of our stores, you can also pick it up there free of charge. In Pfronten this also works for items that are only in stock in Ronsberg: we bring them over, which usually takes 2 to 4 days. The pickup note above and the checkout show where and when you can pick up.
