Pieps Carbon Pro Probe 220

The PIEPS Carbon Pro 220 is a mechanical carbon avalanche probe with a deployed length of 220 cm. Its folding construction uses five tube sections. A quick-closing latch locks the assembled probe, while a centimetre scale helps with reading depths. For storage, the sections fold together and are secured with an elastic buckle. This keeps the folded probe organised and accessible in a touring pack.

Selection and use

Choose a probe length for your requirements and the planned trip. Practise full deployment and locking according to the PIEPS instructions before the probe is needed outdoors. Check that all sections seat correctly and remain tensioned. Consider the transceiver, probe and shovel together during preparation; regular practice with the full group is essential for becoming familiar with the equipment and its sequence of use.

Care and inspection

Clean and dry the probe after use and inspect the connections. Have damaged carbon tubes, a worn tensioning line or a latch that does not close correctly assessed before further use. Pack the folded probe in a protected, accessible position.
