Description
The BIRDLIME 1R is the first synthetic climbing rope made from renewable, bio-based raw materials, and thus once again a pioneering achievement by EDELRID in terms of responsible climbing equipment. More than 40% of the rope consists of castor-oil-based material, a raw material made from renewable components.
By using this renewable resource, we reduce (1R) the consumption of fossil raw materials and show that the use of polyamide based on renewable raw materials is also possible in the manufacture of personal protective equipment.
With a diameter of 9.8 mm and the Thermo Shield treatment, the BIRDLIME is a robust all-round rope for versatile use.
Another alternative for everyone who places great value on responsible equipment.

First synthetic rope on the market that is partly made from renewable raw materials
Over 40% of the rope consists of bio-based material obtained from the oil of the castor plant
Significantly reduced use (1R) of conventional yarns made from fossil raw materials and promotion of the use of renewable raw materials
Pleasant handling thanks to the Thermo Shield treatment
Ready to use straight away without kinks thanks to 3D Lapcoiling

Thermo Shield
Thermo Shield is the basic finish with which we treat all ropes to guarantee the proven suppleness of EDELRID ropes.
This finish is a thermal process through which core and sheath yarns are perfectly matched to each other.
Through a special heat treatment, the fibres in the rope relax and shrink out.
This harmonises the sliding properties of the yarns within the rope, and the rope becomes supple and compact.
This produces ropes that neither shrink further nor quickly become stiff.

3D Lapcoil
In combination with the well-thought-out packaging design, it is now child's play to start climbing straight away with the new rope.
That is because it can be pulled out very easily.
The marking on the rope and the detailed description on the packaging make pulling it out even easier, so that the rope can be used immediately without annoying twisting and tangling.

Single rope
Single ropes are the most widely used climbing ropes.
The classic among mountaineering ropes, so to speak.
Depending on length and diameter, single ropes cover a wide range of uses.
They are the classic sport climbing ropes, both on rock and in the gym, but are also used for alpine climbing and high-altitude tours and for big wall climbing.
A major advantage of this rope type is its simple, clear handling.
EDELRID produces single ropes from 8.9 mm to 10.5 mm in diameter and with a weight of 52 to 69 grams per metre.
As the diameter increases, the strength of a rope generally rises and the number of standard falls increases.
However, a larger diameter also means more weight.
Sturdier single ropes with a high sheath proportion prove their worth especially with intensive use (working a route, top rope).
