Contec CP-043 Platform Pedals Silver/Black

The Contec CP-043 are compact platform pedals with a silver-coloured aluminium body and a dark outer cage. They use a CrMo spindle with a 9/16-inch thread and ground ball bearings. An open cage design and reflectors complete their traditional MTB/ATB form. They are used with ordinary shoes, so check that the crank thread is compatible and the platform shape works comfortably with your footwear.

Selection and use

Check the crank thread and available space before ordering. Follow the right and left markings and the manufacturer’s fitting and tightening instructions. After installation, try the pedals with the shoes you use for cycling to assess the contact between sole and platform. Flat pedals do not require a cleat, but the actual grip still depends on your shoe tread, wet conditions and riding technique.

Care and inspection

Remove dirt from the platform and spindle area. Before a ride, check that the pedal is secure, rotates freely and has no damage or unusual play. Follow the manufacturer’s service instructions for bearing or spindle work. Have unusual noises or damaged parts checked before your next ride.
