Crankbrothers Mallet DH clip-in pedals

The Crankbrothers Mallet DH is a clip-in pedal for downhill riding. A large aluminium platform surrounds the four-sided Crankbrothers mechanism and gives the shoe sole additional support. Its concave shape and replaceable pins help provide contact with the pedal. Red and black versions are listed in this store; choose the required version using the colour selector.

Version and details

• Four-sided Crankbrothers mechanism with aluminium platform.
• Forged chromoly spindle and 57 mm Q-factor.
• Replaceable pins and double bearing seal.
• Use matching Crankbrothers cleats.

Selection and use

Match the pedal spindle to the crank and the cleat mount to your shoe. The Crankbrothers system requires its designated cleats and is not compatible with Shimano SPD cleats. Set up the cleats and platform contact according to the instructions. Check that the sole rests correctly and that the foot releases in a controlled way. Release angle and float depend on cleat version and setup. Practise operation before riding demanding trails.

Care and checks

Remove mud and dirt regularly without directing a pressure-washer jet at the bearings. Check the pedal for play and inspect the cleats and their screws for wear and secure attachment. Maintenance intervals depend on use and conditions. Use suitable original replacement parts and follow Crankbrothers’ lubrication and bearing-service instructions.
