The knife is equipped with an 8 cm stainless steel blade. Due to the handle design, the knife is comfortable to hold.
The loop at the end of the handle makes transport easier.
Model No. 07 is equipped with the Virobloc® system, which locks the blade in open or closed position.

Martensitic Stainless Steel
Hardness 55-57 HRC. Origin from Europe.
Opinel knife blades are made of particularly high-quality stainless steel that offers both high corrosion resistance and high mechanical performance.
The blade has excellent sharpness and high wear resistance (wear resistance), allowing it to withstand regular contact with hard materials like ceramics before needing to be sharpened.
Stainless steel has the advantage that, unlike carbon steel, it requires no special maintenance under normal use conditions.
However, it can reach its limits when it comes into prolonged contact with an aggressive environment (acid, salt water, detergent, etc.).

Yatagan Blade
The traditional Opinel blade is called Yatagan.
The shape is inspired by a Turkish saber with a raised tip.
The blade was ground to an exclusive, curved profile and guarantees robustness and easy resharpening.

Handle
The PEFC-certified beechwood comes from ecologically managed operations in the Jura and Vercors.
It's a white wood with little grain, which is ideal for applying colors without distorting them.
The handle is varnished for better protection against moisture and dirt.

Safety ring
The Virobloc safety ring was invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel.
It is present on all folding knives from model N°06 onwards.
The Virobloc is cut from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part.
In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safe use), it's now also possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safe transport).
