From hiking boot to climbing shoe

The Wildfire Edge is a technical approach boot that transforms from a hiking boot into a climbing shoe. The Salewa Switchfit System was developed together with mountain guides and professional climbers from the Dolomites and is as simple as it is clever. Simply thread the laces through the additional eyelet and pull tight to change the shape of the boot. Your foot is now drawn forward and your toes are squeezed as in a climbing shoe. This makes climbing with your toe tips easier and easier to edge on friction, and safety on technical terrain increases. Switching back to hiking mode works by simply loosening the laces. This widens the toe box and offers greater comfort when hiking.

GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort

Under the extremely wear-resistant upper material (suede leather and microfiber) is the thin, extremely breathable GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort membrane, which protects you from wetness and provides maximum wear comfort in various weather conditions. It keeps your feet dry, but moisture that forms in the boot can still escape.

To improve precision when climbing, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an edging plate, an insole plate under the forefoot that additionally stiffens this important area for climbing. The rest of the insole remains flexible to ensure high wearing comfort and natural foot rollover.

Good grip

The Pomoca Speed MTN sole consists of a particularly grippy rubber compound for high friction on plates and other smooth rock formations. The outsole has special lugs for better ground grip on muddy and soft ground. It was designed for effective grip in both dry and wet conditions.

Alpine fit

Additional torsional stability is provided by the Exa Shell structure: it gives your foot support and prevents slipping in the boot. Plus, your foot is protected by our 3F System, which guarantees flexibility, good fit and firm hold. Climbing Lacing, our climbing shoe lacing, goes all the way to the toes – so you can tighten the boot better for a precise fit. The Wildfire Edge is equipped with the Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+), a special footbed that you can customize to your foot shape through interchangeable layers. This is part of our distinctive Alpine Fit and our "100% Blister-Free" guarantee.
